Alberta Food Supply Chain Working Group
Fireside Chat
A fundamental need and expectation of Albertans is a safe, accessible, and affordable food supply. The food supply chain is a large, complex system; therefore, disruption at any point including consumer actions, impacts the food supply. One of the top priorities of the provincial government throughout the COVID-19 pandemic response is maintaining our food supply and export markets. In the face of extraordinary circumstances collaborative and coordinated efforts were needed in responding to pandemic impacts, providing food security, and ensuring farmers, agri-businesses and food processors could continue to operate safely, distribute food products, and survive these most challenging economic times. Agriculture and Forestry initiated and led a Food Supply Chain Working Group to ensure alignment of policy, programs and response activities in Alberta through information sharing, resource sharing, issues management, and coordinated stakeholder engagement.

Micro-Fulfillment technology empowers businesses with high throughput requirements to maximize space and achieve profitability with e-commerce orders. Thus advancing their omnichannel distribution strategy to give customers what they want, when they want it, where they want it. Join this session to learn how economic trends in retail and manufacturing have pushed the need for Micro-Fulfillment solutions across industries.

ESG is Becoming an Essential Element in Supply Change. Are You Ready?
The emphasis on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) metrics is continuing to increase across all industries and geographical regions. With the increasing pressure from investors, employees, governments, and society to provide disclosure and public commitments covering all aspects of ESG, companies will need to work collaboratively with their Supply Chain. At the same time, companies must prepare for and comply with changing regulations in response to ESG and demonstrate delivery against stated targets to minimize their impact on the environment while making positive contributions to diversity and inclusion. Supply chain leaders have both a great challenge and opportunity to make a difference. There is an increased need for companies to embed ESG as part of their supplier risk management and vendor risk assessment processes. The expert panel comprising of industry, supply chain and consulting will discuss the challenges ahead and share their background and experiences on how to move the needle on this very critical component of their business.
